17th June 2022

With the warmer weather starting to (finally) make an appearance in the UK, many people are looking to spend more time than ever in the great British outdoors. If you’re looking for a way to spend your weekend, we’ve put together our favourite collection of beautiful summer walks near Horsham

Horsham Riverside Walk - 13 Miles

Horsham Riverside Walk is a circular walk of around 13 miles, which virtually encompasses the town of Horsham with its paths. The circular path follows alongside various watercourses, as well as peaceful woodlands, pastures and farmlands. This walk is also a great route for those with an interest in local history, as the Riverside Walk features important sites such as Bailey Castle, a number of mills and the remains of a motte.

St Leonard’s Forest - 5 Miles

St Leonard’s Forest is a lovely short walk, which spans 5 miles in the beautiful woodland area of St Leonard’s Forest, which is notably part of the High Weald Area of Outstanding Beauty. The walk extends to the top of the forest, where you’ll discover the Knight’s Strength and Combe Bottom Woods.

Did you know - there is a legend that a French Hermit once killed a dragon in this forest, so look out for evidence on your walk.

Slaugham - 5 Miles

Slaugham is a gentle family-friendly walk in the gorgeous countryside of Sussex. On this route, you'll head between the quiet villages of Slaugham and Warninglid, both of which sit around 7 miles from Horsham. This walk will take you across beautiful open countryside landscapes, woodlands, lakesides, and a couple of local pubs which are great for a quick lunch stop-off.

Billingshurst - 9 Miles

Billingshurst is a brilliant countryside stroll in Billinghurst, which is around 8 miles away from Horsham. The route provides you with a varied adventure starting at the Jubilee Fields park in Billingshurst, which takes you along countryside walks around the picturesque River Arun. Whatsmore, there is also a friendly pub in the Wisborough village, great for well-deserved refreshments halfway through. This walk is on the longer side, so be sure to prepare yourself!

Loxwood Way - 2 Miles

This short walk along the Arun Canal is a great option for keen dog walkers and their furry friends. This walk is simple and flat and is a good mix of gravel, woodland and grassy path routes. The stroll along the working canal is brilliant, allowing you to get a glimpse of some fantastic narrowboats. Whatsmore, this walk is right on the doorstep of the Onslow Arms - a lovely beer garden overlooking the river.
